Na začátku filmu Arrow vidíme urbánní krajinu, po níž následuje divočina bez lidí. Znepokojivý obraz reality kdesi je brzy narušen barevnými horizontálními vrstvami. Předmětné zůstává pod vrstvou abstraktizujících barevných horizontál, které vše pohlcují, aby se nakonec opět vyjevilo. Arrow můžeme do jisté míry vnímat jako metaforu autorových zájmů o vizuální umění – od kresby a malby, přes film až po digitální video.

At the beginning of Arrow, we can see an urban landscape, followed by wilderness without people. The unsettling depiction of reality is soon disturbed by horizontal layers of color. The material remains under a layer of abstracted horizontal lines in color, which absorb everything, in order to show it again. Arrow can be, in certain respects, perceived as a metaphor of the author’s interest in visual arts – including drawing and painting, movies, as well as digital video.

Thomas Steiner
Narodil se v roce 1956 v Linci. Studoval Vysokou školu tvorby v Linci a Vysokou školu užitého umění ve Vídni. V letech 1985–1986 působil ve Studiu experimentálního animovaného fimu. Začínal s 8mm filmovým materiálem, který v polovině 80. let vyměnil za 16mm film. Od začátku tisíciletí pracuje s digitální technologií. Působí také jako malíř. Od roku 1980 realizuje samostatné i skupinové výstavy, umělecké akce, natáčí animované experimentální filmy. Je členem několika uměleckých spolků.

He was born in 1956 in Linz. He studied at the University of Art and Design in Linz and University of Applied Arts in Vienna. Between 1985–1986, he worked at the Studio of Experimental Animated Film. He started with 8mm film material, which he replaced with 16mm film in the mid-eighties. He has been working with digital technology since the beginning of the century. He also paints. Since 1980, he has had his own and group exhibitions, art events, and been making animated experimental film. He is a member of several art groups.
