Název filmu, přeložitelný jako „výtečné tělo“, odkazuje k surrealismu a jeho metodě kolektivní tvorby – tzv. cadavre exquis (anglicky exquisite corpse). Také v tomto případě dílo vzniká z rozličných fragmentů různých žánrů a autorů – ze směsi útržků z archivních hraných, amatérských, pornografických či reklamních snímků. Výsledkem je esej na téma touha. Touha je spojena se sexualitou a jejím tělesným, ale i diváckým uspokojením. Skvělý zvukový doprovod Dirka Schaefera pracuje podobným způsobem a míchá Lese Baxtera, konkrétní hudbu a citace z hudby Teiji Itoa k Meshes of the Afternoon.

The name of the movie could be literally translated as “the exquisite corpse” and refers to surrealism and its method of collective creation – the so-called cadavre exquis /or exquisite corpse in English. Also in this case the work is formed from various fragments of di erent genres and authors – a mix of fragments of archive feature, amateur and pornographic, or advertising films. The result is an essay about desire. Desire is connected with sexuality and its physical, but also the viewers’ satisfaction. Excellent music by Dirk Schaefer works in a similar way and mixes Les Baxter, specific music and quotes of Teij Ito’s music to Meshes of the Afternoon.

Narodil se v roce 1958 ve Vídni. Studoval žurnalistiku, politologii a filozofii (doktorát v roce 1986). Od poloviny 80. let píše o historii a teorii avantgardního filmu. V roce 1991 spoluzaložil distribuční společnost sixpack film, která se zaměřuje na experimentální film a je mimo jiné hlavním partnerem naší přehlídky. V letech 1993 a 1994 byl uměleckým ředitelem významného rakouského filmového festivalu Diagonale. Peter Tscherkassky patří mezi nejvýznamnější žijící rakouské autory experimentálního filmu. Filmy natáčí od konce 70. let. Je předním představitelem found footage filmu. Jeho díla jsou uváděna na důležitých festivalech a v expozicích v Rakousku i v zahraničí.

He was born in Vienna in 1958. He studied journalism, political science and philosophy (achieved a doctorate degree in 1986). Since the mid-1980’s, he has been publishing written work on history and theory of avant-garde film. In 1991, he co-founded sixpack film, which focuses on experimental film and is also the main partner of our film show. In 1993 and 1994, he was the artistic director of the prominent Austrian film festival Diagonale. Peter Tscherkassky is one of Austria’s most significant living authors of experimental film. He has been filming since the late 1970’s. He is a leading figure of found footage film. His works are presented at important festivals and exhibitions in Austria and abroad.
